Abhinaya was born in Chennai, a large coastal city in the south of India, where she also completed her bachelor's studies in Biotechnology. She then moved to Munich and obtained a Master’s degree at LMU in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Her long-standing curiosity about neuroscience and her inadvertent experience as a disease modeler led her to a PhD position with the Neuhauss Lab, where she will explore the metabolic landscape associated with heritable blindness.
