Simon grew up in South Tyrol, Italy. He moved to Zurich for his undergraduate studies at ETH Zurich, which he completed with a Master of Science in Chemical- and Bioengineering. He then pursued a PhD in the laboratory of Prof. Andrew deMello, in the Institute of Chemical- and Bioengineering at ETH, developing microfluidic methods for long-term observations in C. elegans. In 2018 he joined the laboratory of Prof. Alex Hajnal at DMLS in his current position as postdoctoral research associate, further developing long-term imaging strategies, as well as developing novel approaches for high-throughput image based screening in C. elegans.
