We study the signals that cells use to orchestrate growth, patterning, homeostasis, and regeneration. Unfettered, the same signals drive disease progression. A major focus is the role played by the Wnt/Wingless signaling cascade in processes such as intestinal stem cell maintenance and tumor progression. To study the latter, we are establishing novel metastatic cancer models. We are also continuing to develop community resources and optimizing cutting-edge technologies to accelerate biological research. As model systems, we use Drosophila, mice, and in vitro systems such as organoids.
