Jiwon was born in South Korea and developed a deep interest in biology from an early age. He earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Biology and Biotechnology from the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). During his graduate studies in the lab of Prof. Chunghun Lim, he conducted two independent research projects: one exploring the neural circuits regulating early-onset seizure behavior, and another investigating how childhood experiences shape adult social behaviors through specific neural mechanisms. Through these experiences, he built a strong foundation in neuroscience and behavioral genetics.

Joining the Müller Lab as a postdoctoral fellow in April 2025, Jiwon is pursuing research on how synaptic homeostasis can be translated into behavioral physiology. Outside the lab, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
