Lukas was born and raised in Küsnacht, Switzerland. He completed his bachelor's degree in biology and political science at the University of Zurich, during which time he lead the 2023 UZurich iGEM team, winning a gold medal for a project to raise awareness of and find new treatment possibilities for endometriosis. In 2024 he joined the Gilmour lab as a master student where he is investigating the interplay between migration and differentiation in zebrafish fibroblasts.

Outside of the lab, Lukas is active in university life, having served as president of the student union VSUZH as well as representing all students on the University Board. When in Zurich, you will find Lukas enjoying the cultural variety of this beautiful city in the theatre, cinema, or opera. When at home in Sargans, he might be exploring the outdoors on the ski slopes or on the hiking trail.
