Jana obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, North Macedonia, and a master’s degree in cognitive and clinical neuroscience at the University of Maastricht, Netherlands. She did her PhD study at the University of Basel, Switzerland, where she developed a strong interest in bioinformatics and human genomics, conducting extensive analysis of large genetics and brain imaging datasets linked to complex human behavior. After obtaining her PhD degree in 2020, she continued her work as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the same department for the next few years, identifying biological correlates and markers of brain-related disorders and traits by multi-modal analyses of diverse datasets, such as genomics, next-generation sequencing, functional and structural brain imaging, cognitive tests etc. In October, 2024, she joined the Bachmann-Gagescu research group at the University of Zurich, focusing on identifying clinically meaningful genetic variants and molecular markers of various diseases. The ultimate aim of her research efforts is to contribute to the improvement of human health and well-being.
Jana’s hobbies include running, hiking, enjoying nature, travelling, watching films and reading (especially science fiction).
